How to Get Your Zapier Webhook URL
This guide will walk you
through the process of creating a webhook URL in Zapier and connecting it to
your AmbirScan application. This integration allows your scanned documents,
Business Cards or ID’s to automatically trigger workflows in Zapier, enabling
you to connect with thousands of other apps like Gmail, Google Drive, Slack,
and more.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Log in to Zapier and Create a New Zap
Go to your Zapier dashboard at
https://zapier.com
and click the
"Create" button to start building a new Zap.
Step 2: Set Up Your Trigger
In the Zap editor, you'll see
two main components: a Trigger and an Action. Click on the Trigger
section to configure it.
Step 3: Search for and Select "Webhooks by Zapier"
In the app search field, type "Webhooks"
and select "Webhooks by Zapier" from the list of apps. You'll
find this under "Popular built-in tools" section.
Step 4: Choose "Catch Hook" as the Event
From the list of available
events, select "Catch Hook". This event type triggers when a
POST, PUT, or GET request is made to your Zapier webhook URL.
Step 5: Configure the Webhook (Optional)
On the configuration screen, you
can optionally pick off a child key. For most use cases with AmbirScan, you can
leave this blank and click "Continue".
Step 6: Copy Your Webhook URL
Zapier will now generate a
unique webhook URL for you. This is the URL you'll need to connect AMBIRscan.
Click the "Copy" button next to the webhook URL to copy it to
your clipboard.
Important:
Save this URL - you'll need it in the next steps!
Step 7: Open AmbirScan Settings
Open your AmbirScan. Click on
settings and hit edit next to a cloud document scanning destination like google
drive or select Zapier as a destination for ID or Business Card and hit edit.
Step 8: Paste the Webhook URL into AMBIRscan
In the Zapier Integration
section, paste the webhook URL you copied from Zapier into the "Webhook
URL" field. Then click the "Connect Zapier" button.
Step 9: Verify the Connection
Once connected, you should see a
"Connected" status indicator.
The webhook URL will be displayed, and you'll see options to test the
connection or disconnect.
Step 10: Test Your Connection (Back in Zapier)
Return to Zapier and click "Test
trigger". Scan a document in AmbirScan to send a test webhook. Zapier
should receive the test data and display it. You can then select a test record
to continue building your Zap.
You're All Set!
Your AmbirScan application is
now connected to Zapier. Every time you scan a document, it will automatically
trigger your Zap workflow. From here, you can add actions in Zapier.
